While Kishore was rushed to the hospital, the bride switched husbands. Without thinking twice, she asked a member of her brother-in-law’s family to step in and marry her. The incident took place in Rampur town in the northern Indian state of Utter Predesh. According to reports, the epileptic groom fell to the ground in front of the wedding guests just as he was reaching out to garland Indira. When he returned from the hospital, he pleaded with the bride to change her mind so he would not be ridiculed by friends and family, but Indira refused.
Mr Kishore and his embittered family lodged a complaint with the police, but nothing could be done because the bride is already married.
