At the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State on Friday, it became clear that Dickson's chances of being reelected as governor of the state is slim. As Bayelsa welcomed President Jonathan for his campaign, the state literally shut down as schools, markets and shops at Yenagoa, the state capital were closed to give President Goodluck Jonatha, who hails from the state, a welcome.
Following threats by some militant groups to disgrace Dame Patience Jonathan if she steps into the state, there was heavy presence of security personnel to protect the president and the first lady. After Jonathan urged the people of Bayelsa to vote for him as they had always done, chaos began when he mentioned Governor Dickson's name as the crowed booed the governor and shunned the President's appeal that they should corporate with Dickson. It was a surprise that the governor still had the courage to make his welcome address; as he began his address, the booing heigteneed and only the presence of security stopped the crowed not to cause mor chaos.
Nobody likes a stingy leader and Governor Dickson has been accused of being disturbingly tight-fisted. Unless the governor finds a way of becoming a cheerful philanthropist, he might lose the gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State.
